The Angels held off a late rally and beat the Astros 9-5. Eric Kinsey pitched 6 strong innings, stiking out 8 while giving up 4 hits. Mike Boyd pitched the last two innings, fanning 3 and allowing 2 hits. Michael Reardon was 2 for 2 with a double, two walks and 3 runs. Kevin Walton walked all four times he was up, getting a RBI and run in the process. On a sad note, Wil DeJesus's 2 year consecutive game hit streak was snapped as he went 0-3 with a walk. Today the brewers came to play. The hit came like no other with Brian Oneill with a 3 run bomb in the second but after that did very little just kidding. It was a solid offense game.

Dodgers defeat the Yankees 10 to 7. The Dodgers took advantage of every dropped ball and missed oppertunity by the Yankees to win the game. Overshadowed in the loss was a great pitching performance by Z.Severson.

Dodgers: Dodgers and Mets played a close game. Dodgers pitchers continued to shine - Dale Woodard 6.1 IP allowing 3 ER; and Dave Rose 1.2 IP, 0 R. Dodgers defense made some great plays and some clunkers. Offensive Highlights: Alan Lovejoy 3-3, 3 R, 2 SB; Matt Fleming 2-2, 2B, SB; and Brad Milner 2-4, 2 RBI.

NO SMOKING OR CHEWING TOBACCO

There will be no smoking or chewing tobacco on school grounds!!  . If caught, team will be fined $25.00 for the 1st 2 offenses, , $50.00 for the 3rd  rand 4th offense . After the 4th offense, the fine will be $ 100.00 per offense, possible forfeiture of game or games and possible removal of manager. All fines must be paid 7 days after notified by league president.

NO ALCOHOL

There will be no alcohol on school grounds and/or parking lots at all fields. If caught, team will forfeit next game and player can face a suspension for a minimum of 2 games and willed be fined $50.00 for the 1st offense, $50.00 for the 2nd offense, $100.00 for the 3rd offense and possible removal of the manager. All fines must be paid 7 days after notified by league president.

PROPER UNIFORM

All players must be in proper uniform. No shorts, sweats, or jeans allowed!! Players shall have team name and number on jersey. Teams have until 4th game to be in compliance. No uniform no play.

EJECTIONS & SUSPENSIONS

Any player ejected for fighting will suspended for the next game and possibly longer.

Any player ejected may be suspended for next game depending on infraction.

Any players ejected must leave the confines of the field immediately.

Failure to do so will result in forfeit of game.

PROTESTS

Any protest involving an ineligible player must be made before the last out is recorded or it will not be valid. Any protest regarding a play in question, please refer to the rule book .it will not be heard without protest fees and in writing within 48 hours. Judgment calls cannot be protested.

TEAM FEES

Team fees are for 16 players only. There is a $75.00 charge per player over 16 players mandated by NABA.

SCORES

Please call or e-mail scores by 7:00 Monday. If score is not called in, a $25.00 fine will be assessed. if score has not been called in by 8:00am Saturday, the game will be called a forfeit and count as a loss. E-mail- venturanaba@aol.com or call 642-0173.

DOUBLE HEADERS are 9 innings for both games.

CLEAN DUGOUT

Both teams must clean their own dugouts. Failure to do so may result in a fine of $50.00 for the 1st offense, $50.00 for the 2nd offense, $100.00 for the 3rd offense and possible removal of the manager.

ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE

Pitcher may wear orthopedic device on arm or hand while pitching.  (must be orthopedic). A black or blue batting glove may be worn on pitchers non- throwing hand.

HOME TEAM/ VISITING TEAM

Home team 3rd base dugout, visitors 1st base dugout.

Home team will take infield 30 minutes before game time. Visitors will

Take infield 20 minutes before game time and all infield will be done 10 minutes before game time. Pre-game is to be done 10 min. before game time.

 

 

 

PREGAME

Each team will give 3 balls to umpire at pre-game conference. All balls shall be used during course of game.  There is a $25.00 fine if you do not bring game balls. Umpire fees are $60.00 each game for each team and $40.00 each game if there is a single umpire.

Please have last name and number of players on lineup card. If a player is not listed on the lineup card, he is not eligible to play.  He must be removed from the game immediately upon discovery of ineligibility by either umpire or opposing manager. If a player remains in the game beyond that point, opposing manager has before the last out of the game to protest. The penalty for not removing a player is a forfeit. All protest rules are in effect.  List all players and subs.  If not listed on lineup card, player is ineligible to play that game.

 AFTER EACH GAME

Home team shall drag and water the infield after each game. Home team will also take out and remove bases after each game. Home team will put all equipment in equipment box and lock box when done. Home team will unlock and lock portable toilets each game where there is a toilet available.  Home team will be responsible for locking equipment up. Any missing equipment is the home team’s responsibilities to replace missing equipment. Visitors will rake, tamp, and water the pitchers mound, home plate, and baselines Failure to do so may result in a fine of $50.00 for the 1st offense, $50.00 for the 2nd offense, $100.00 for the 3rd offense and possible removal of the manager

NUMBER OF PLAYERS

If a team has used all subs or cannot finish game with same amount of players in the starting lineup it will not be a forfeit, it will be an out in that spot. You can finish the game with no less than 8 defensive players.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY

Any player added to the roster after June 15th at 8:00pm will not be eligible for playoffs or championship games. Any player playing in both leagues must play at least 10 games for 2nd team to be eligible for playoffs. It is the players responsibility to make sure he gets his 10 games in. Please ask opposing manager to sign scorebook to verify participation. A game consists of at least 1 at bat.

RAIN

In the event of rain, 1st check the website. We will notify you if there is a game. For the 2nd game, the managers will be called to try to work the field if there is a chance the game will be played.

In case a field is questionable as to whether or not a game is played due to weather conditions, 1 Board member and 1 Manager shall agree the field is playable. If a Board member is not present, then the plate umpire and 1 Manager must agree on the game playability.  Once the game starts, the umpire has sole discretion whether or not the game continues.

PLAYER ADDS

If you are adding a player, one of the members of the board of directors needs to have the contract by 8:00pm on Saturday to insure his eligibility.

Any player drafted from tryouts must be on team’s roster for a minimum of 6 games and counts towards their 16 player roster

NON RUNNERS

All leagues are allowed 3 non-runners per game. They must be listed on the lineup card before the game and must be the last out.

Only catcher can have runner with 2 outs. This is optional for catcher.


PLAYER CONTRACTS

Any player that doesn’t pay his fees to his team or manager will not be able to play until all league fees are paid.

Any new person committed to a team in writing (signed contract) at the start of the season will be bound to that team for that season and one additional season.

A player can be traded at any time to another team (pending approval by all parties, both managers, player/players and board)) for another player, equipment, future draft choice.(money cannot be used as incentive for trade).

Any player can be released by a manager at any time. With a written consensual release, that player can join any other team.

If a player walks away without being released, Player Contract rules must be followed. (2 year contract).  When that player returns to the league, he may not join a team without entering the draft.

If a teams folds, all players must go through the draft in order to play with a different team the next season. If a minimum of eight players from the folded team decide to start a team, the new team will carry over the status of the folded team and therefore they do not have to go through the draft.

Player Contract rules as stated above are open to league/ Board review to ensure the integrity of the league.  All trades, releases, or free agent signings must be approved by the league.

TEAM FEES

Any team that has not paid league fees by set deadline will be fined $100.00 each week until all fees are paid.

AMERICAN LEAGUE RULES  (AGE 18+)

There are no pitching restrictions in the 18+ division.

 

NATIONAL LEAGUE RULES  (AGE 35+)

Each team is allowed 1 under 35 player but it must be a father-son playing on same team. Under 34 player cannot pitch or catch and must be approved by board. A father must play in 75% of the team’s games and have 1 official at bat each game unless father has a major injury or illness. The manager of the team will be responsible for proof of father’s at bat each game. If father doesn’t fulfill obligation, son cannot play in playoffs.

WOOD BATS

League games will be played with wood bats for the April 6thth-June 15th for the 35+ and April 20th-June 15th for the 18+.  Only wood bats will be allowed for these games unless otherwise noted.

Buena HS

Rake mound and home plate,

drag infield, tamp mound and batters boxes,

water, clean dugouts, clean bathrooms

empty trash bins (yes, Anthony requested this),

and put all equipment back in equipment box, home team lock box.

 

Ventura HS

Rake mound and home plate,

drag infield (keep drag off the grass),

tamp mound and batters box,

water field, remove trash from dugouts

put all equipment  back in the equipment box,

home team lock box and lock gate.

 

Huntsinger—

Rake mound and home plate

drag infield,

tamp mound and batters boxes,

water, clean dugouts,

and put all equipment back in equipment box,

home team lock box.
