Ventura NABA
The Ventura NABA league is currently comprised of 18
teams in two different divisions.
The American Division is open for ages 18 and older.
The National League is for ages 35 and older.
The Ventura NABA usually plays a 20-22 game schedule beginning mid-March
continuing through August, followed by double-elimination playoffs, and a
3 game championship series. We play on Sundays either in the morning
or afternoon, with an occasional double-header. We do not play on
holiday weekends (Easter, Mother’s Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day). There are, however,
Tournaments held on some of those week-ends for those who would like to
participate. .

What do I need to Get Started?
You will need a team.... and a team MAY need you!
Tryouts will be held in early/mid January. Come out and tryout, there are
teams looking for all skill levels. Many guys are making
comebacks after 15-20 years of baseball absence.
If you could not make the tryouts, you can still be placed in the player
pool and be eligible to play. Many teams need more guys mid-season,
be sure to add yourself to the player pool early.
After you either become a part of a team or put a team
together, you will need the proper equipment such as a glove, cleats and
the like. But the most important requirement is a desire to play baseball
and have fun!

Where and When we
play The Ventura NABA plays primarily on high school, college, and city parks fields around the Ventura area. For the last few years we have played at Ventura College stadium field, Huntsinger Field, Channel Islands High School, Pacifica High School and Buena High School. We play just about every Sunday between
Mid-March until September, except holiday weekends. Game times are typically
10am or 2pm. back to top
Summary of NABA
Rules
Games are regulation 9 innings with a 3
hour time limit. Playing by primarily Major League rules, the NABA has a
few exceptions which are designed to prevent injury and give players more
playing time. For example, there is a " no collision" rule, a no fake tag
rule, a courtesy runner rule, and an 8 person start rule. There is free
substitution on defense and a starter re-entry rule for the batting order.
Baseball uniforms are required – no blue jeans, cut-offs, shorts, nor
sweats are allowed for league play. Everyone must wear baseball shoes,
socks, and pants; and caps and shirts must match with numbers on the back
of the shirts. While the belts, pants, socks and sleeves do not
necessarily have to match, teams are encouraged to vote to have matching
uniforms as it adds to the image of our leagues. Wood, aluminum, graphite,
and ceramic bats are used and steel spikes are allowed. You cannot,
however, sharpen them and there are no Ty Cobb type sliding tactics
allowed – everyone has to go to work the next day! In addition, the NABA
has NO ALCOHOL, NO DRUGS, and NO TOBACCO PRODUCTS rules as practically
every facility where we play has those selfsame rules.

How much are fees and where do they go?
Team fees will vary considerably because some teams
have obtained sponsorships, others sponsor themselves; some are existing
teams while others are new ; and some teams uniforms are more elaborate
than others. So depending on a particular team’s circumstances, fees
generally range between $200 to $300 per player for the entire season
including uniform.
The league entry fees portion of a
players team fee covers field rentals, required liability insurance costs,
game balls, administrative costs, and team and individual awards for
division winners and league champions. The remaining portion of team fees
covers a per player share of umpires fees and uniform and equipment costs.

How can I
join?
Simple! You can participate in our open try-outs (
usually held in mid-January) and get drafted by one of our teams OR you
can get assigned to a team from our Players Pool. To sign-up and/or get
placed on the Players Pool if you are unable to attend try-outs but would

What is NATIONAL ADULT
BASEBALL ASSOCIATION
The National Adult Baseball Association (NABA) offers
baseball to adults of all ages and abilities and has developed a program
that is a proven outlet for a wholesome and satisfying opportunity to play
America’s favorite pastime, Baseball!
The NABA is a nationally based program with local
leagues in cities across the country playing baseball under a common set
of rules; leagues that are both organized and fun, but affordable as well.
NABA leagues strive to provide quality baseball in the best conditions and
environment the local community has to offer.
Classified by age and experience level, NABA has over
25,000 player-members playing baseball in organized leagues in more than
43 states. Divided into 18 & Over, 30 & Over, 40 & Over, and
50 & Over age groups, the advanced, intermediate and recreational
levels of play remove the intimidation factor, giving players with little
or no experience and those whose skills are a bit rusty, the chance to
play and have fun.
Open to all NABA members, NABA regional and national
tournaments give you the chance to play against teams from across the
nation. Following the design of local leagues, NABA tournaments are
organized to be competitive and fun. NABA members match their skills
against opponents as they vie for team and individual honors and awards.
Whether representing a league as Champions, an All Star team, or joining a
team at the tournament, NABA players get the chance to share the bond
between all members: the love of Baseball.
Whatever the situation, the NABA is
committed to providing fair, well-organized and enjoyable amateur baseball
to all interested adults.
