This was a seesaw battle the whole way.
The Dodgers struck early and the Royals responded.
The game was surely put out or reach in the seventh by Chris Chruma's suicide squeeze, putting the Royals ahead 11-9. However the Dodgers answered back when Alan Lovejoy hit the second of his two homers tying it at 11. The game winning run occured when a throw deflected off Monte Zwirn's helmet during a rundown at third.
Great game all around by both teams.
Stars for the Royals were Jimmy Bermejo who went 3 for 4 with two doubles, and Craig Thompson who went two for four with a double and 2 run home run.

Alan Lovejoy 3-5, 2 HR, 5 RBI

The Indians jumped out to a quick 14-1 lead, but of course the defending champs did not go down quietly rallying to make it a 14-10 game. The Indians responded with a rally of their own capped by a 2-out bases clearing triple by Rich Letus to put the game out of reach. The Indians attack was led by Letus with a 3-5 effort driving in 6 runs, Andy Madec was 2-4 scoring twice while driving in 3, Ryan Rosenthal added a 3-4 2RBI performance, & John Castellanos pitched four stellar innings for
the Indians.
